The following presents the use of the MMPI-2 for individual testing of a schizophrenia patient. The case information is followed by the general use of the MMPI-2 for diagnosis of schizophrenia and the application of this test to the patient. The present case involves a 50-year-old single male who was diagnosed as schizophrenic at around age 29 years when he experienced his first psychotic break. Following this outbreak his symptoms went into remission until age 45 years when he experienced another psychotic episode. He has been hospitalized continuously since this break. He has little memory about the previous acute periods and is doing well in the hospital. The staff finds him to be cooperative and engaged in hospital activities.
