The Treasury Building

Mills placed a plain entry block that disguises two sets of stairs that rise, from left and right, behind the block. The flat plane of this block is pierced by five tall, unornamented doorways. These doorways echo the shape of the plain windows that are placed along the basement at ground level. The plain rectangles of the windows are set below each of the spaces that separates the columns above. The columns, which are three stories tall, are unfluted Ionic columns. The are freestanding and front a relatively deep space, at the back of which the windows for the three floors are presented in vertical stripes.
