Many believe that the low incomes paid to migrant farmworkers result in a large percentage of these laborers seeking assistance from social services. The anti-immigration voices in the mainstream constantly expound on the purported fact that Hispanic immigrants are entering the country illegally and taking advantage of the taxpayers by using the social services that they do not pay for themselves. This is a fallacy on many levels. NAWS has discovered that the number of farmworkers using social services has in fact not increased over the past decade, and in some cases has actually declined over that time period. This reality is probably the direct result of the migrant farmers' undocument
