Microsoft Word is a powerful word processing application that allows users to create templates for entire documents and styles for the way in which text will be formatted within a document. Word is based on paragraphs, so that the style for one paragraph carries over when that paragraph is copied to another place in the document, or even to a different Word document. Formatting can even be carried across applications so that a paragraph created and formatted in Microsoft Word can be copied into Power Point without losing the formatting characteristics.
