Subject: Proposal to Implement Ergonomically Sound Work Stations

______________________________________________________________

This technical proposal will state the reasons why the concept of ergonomically designed work stations is a valid one for this insurance company, and will then offer specific implementations and strategies to make this happen.

This proposal has been based on the fact that many of the employees have been complaining about sore backs, sore necks, headaches, stress, and genera; restiveness. It is the conclusion that these are related more to the working environment than the company culture. This memo will argue that:

A. There is a NEED Employee discomfort is causing a reduction in job performance while increasing absenteeism.

B. There are SOLUTIONS. There are available in the marketplace sufficient styles and designs of office workstation units that have been proven, both conclusively and anecdotally, to improve work performance and diminish stress injuries.

C. The solutions have a reasonable COST. These workstation units are available in a wide price range, but research suggests that the minimum configuration for this proposal (chair and work platform) can be purchased for a maximum cost of $450 per unit. Since 110 workstations would be impacted, the projected cost for these units is $49,500. As shown in the budget included with this memo, there are substantial discounts for purchasing the units in volume

The analysis phase will study the types of work being done, how the workers are doing it, and what steps are necessary to completion. Most experts recommend that a task force including key employees is the best way to conduct this research. This Analysis leads to the Planning phase, and for this it is wise to reduce the number of employees involved in the task force, simply to allow for a clear focus of tasks. Not all w
