The most common methods of exporting are indirect exporting and direct exporting. In indirect exporting, the American company would use an export intermediary (EMC, export management company or an ETC, export trading company). This intermediary contractually assumes the complete responsibility for finding overseas buyers (either retailers, wholesalers or end consumers), for arranging transfer of payments and currency conversion, and arranging other factors such as meeting import quotas and so on (Buckley & Casson, 1998).
