Communicating the new strategy to the entire organization, or the strategy implementation, is the last obstacle that Markides indicates must be overcome. Competition for resources within the organization between the new idea and existing strategies require that the institution itself back the new direction and that all employees understand its importance and the commitment of the company. In some cases, companies may need to reorganize in order to implement the strategy effectively (Markides, 1998, p. 39).

While new companies may have the advantage when it comes to bringing new ideas to market, existing firms have more at stake and the resources required to undertake this critical strategic function.
