The following is a personal statement regarding why I would like an internship in the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. The Ritz-Carlton is a five-star/five-diamond hotel, which will provide an opportunity to be trained with quality standards. This level of training and standards are important for my career goals.
I am interested in a career in Hospitality. The internship program at the Ritz-Carlton, provides for the opportunity to participate in all functions of hotel operations, successfully executing each of the duties, responsibilities, and tasks for each department. This on-the-job-training will allow me to experience the different problems and opportunities that are associated with management and leadership in the hotel environment. This experience will lead to a more full understanding of operations, than would be provided through text-book learning, alone.
To fully understand the hotel aspect of the hospitality industry, this internship will allow for training in rooms, food and beverage, culinary, and manager aspects. I am interested in becoming knowledgeable and proficient in each of these areas. Training regarding rooms leadership includes: administrative areas such as human resources, purchasing, quality, catering, accounting, engineering, sales and marketing, and conference services; and operations such as communications/PBX, guest recognition, guest services, club concierge, housekeeping, loss prevention, retail, reservations, front desk, concierge, residences, laundry, and spa. Training in food and beverage leadership includes: administrative areas of human resources, purchasing, sales and marketing, conference services, accounting, quality, and catering; and operations such as banquets, stewarding, kitchen, lobby lounge, ARIA, EDR, pool and beach, and in room dining.
