This article is a report on the reliability and validity of the Scan A test which is used to assess central auditory processing ability in children. The article describes a study carried out comparing the results of the Scan A test given to 25 children between the ages of 12 and 18 years and a matched group of controls who had normal hearing. The children with hearing impairment were identified using other speech-language tests, audiological tests and clinical judgment. The researchers used a discrimination analysis of Scan A to see if it correctly identified those children with known hearing disorders.
