Caesar is also very talented at building coalitions, particularly during the early years of his political life. He married his daughter Julia to Pompey for political reasons, and actively sought the support of wealthy Romans (including Pompey and Crassus) to help him achieve his ends. His ability to create these coalitions comes about in part through his communication skills, but also because he understands human nature and is particularly lavish and courteous to those he is trying to influence.
