The Internet is not housed on any one computer nor is it controlled by any one entity. Instead, it comprises millions of computers and users around the world working on a collective giant network that relies on service providers (ISPs) to provide access. Intranets are similar to the Internet in that much of the same information is available as on the web, and that HTML is often the preferred language for intranet pages, but intranets are controlled and managed by a single organization.
