if one infers that the general subject is the international political economy, one should also realize that the principal perspective is one of economics, not politics. As Litka and Blodgett put it: "Emphasis is placed on the business enterprise as it conducts its commercial activity in environments that are different in their economic, legal, political, social, and cultural aspects form the firms [sic] corresponding domestic environment" (Litka & Blodgett, 1995, p. iv).

Business law in this work is conceived as an environment that governs business practices, and familiarity with the domestic American business environment on one hand and standard business practices on the other is presumed. As well, Litka and Blodgett appear to rely on an understanding that contracts honored by all parties to them will be a primary mechanism of facilitating individual transactions. But international business operations inevitably involve encounters between often vastly different domestic commercial environments.
