The smaller road freight hauling companies and the independent contractors functioning within the industry have a combined potential to account for more than one-half of the market for medium-duty and heavy-duty trucks in the EU. These segments of the market also are the most dependent on the availability of creative and innovative financing solutions to enable them to obtain the equipment (medium-duty and heavy-duty trucks) required to participate in the road freight-hauling system in the integrated goods market in the EU.
As noted above, however, many manufacturers and distributors of medium-duty and heavy-duty trucks in the EU do not offer creative and innovative financing solutions to potential buyers of their equipment. If the potential of such financing solutions to spur sales levels in the market for medium-duty and heavy-duty trucks is strong, it would benefit manufacturers, distributors, trucking companies, independent contractors operating in the industry, and the general economy in the EU is all or most manufacturers and distributors made such financing solutions available to their customers.
The purpose of this study will be to assess the effects on sales in the market for medium-duty and heavy-duty trucks in the EU of creative financing solutions and innovations in financing made available to buyers of these trucks by the manufacturers and distributors of the trucks. Within the context of the study purpose, the following research questions will b investigated:
What type of creative financing program, innovation in financing, or combination of multiple solutions lead to increased sales in the EU market for medium-duty and heavy-duty trucks?
