The content of the literature related directly to the problem investigated in the study reported in the article. All sources reviewed dealt with grief and the great majority dealt with gender and pregnancy loss grief. Further, the researchers evaluated the sources reviewed, as opposed to simply summarizing them. There appeared to be no gaps in the literature review included in the critiqued article, however, the review did not conclude with a brief synopsis of state of the art literature in the area of investigation.
The review of literature presented in the article was organized to provide a clear development of ideas. These ideas included the nature of pregnancy loss grief, the concept that grief is both felt and expressed differently by men and women, and that men do experience grief associated with pregnancy loss. Further, the organization of the literature review supports the conduct of the study reported in the article.
