Gifted and talented teachers working in public schools frequently desire to bring innovative programs to their students which is to say that they want to break through what is customary or routine and bring about change. Based on Resnick's views of erroneous assumptions, these teachers would need to understand that if they wish their changes to be accepted and successfully implemented, they must work collaboratively with all involved. Further, teachers should do some "homework" and investigate how their schools have responded to changes in the past. They need to answer questions such as whether past changes were successfully implemented and if not, why not?
