Cultural deviance appears to be the least likely explanation for this crime because the profession in which the stockbroker is positioned has strong ethical norms governing behavior.

The second case to be examined herein is that of a college woman who becomes a call girl to earn money to help pay for college tuition and because it leaves her more time to concentrate on her schoolwork. This hypothetical woman comes from a suburban, white, middle-class family in which it may well be assumed that prostitution is not regarded as a viable occupation.
