be an issue but perhaps is the biggest issue in counseling is the subject of sex. While sex is intended to occur only between two married people, it has not been so at least since man has been keeping records. Thus, the counselor and counselee who spend much time together solving problems together all too often develop the temptation to spend more time together creating problems. Miller and Larrabee first note that a survey of 60 counselors in the Southern region of the Association for Counselor Education, 7 percent (4 people) believed one could have sexual relations with a counselee if those relations were not coerced (332). As a counselor he is to ask not "Can I legally. . .?" but rather "How can I maintain high standards and ethics for my profession?" Both Christians and counselors need be more concerned with their responsibibilities than with rights.
