Manifestations of sacred power can be more subtle, but holy power moves human beings to go and do. This majestic power of the nonordinary is both attractive and frightening at one and the same time. The way this power is describe differs from religion to religion, but it tends to include elements of attraction and repulsion. Fear and love of the holy are common to religion, and a holy power that attracts and repels is found in tribal religions and in modern religious tradition alike. Hinduism is offered as one example as Vishnu, the god who protects and preserves, is a creative and life-giving power, with his power balanced by the rhythmic cosmic dance of Shiva, whose dance destroys as well as gives birth
