In addition, club lore says that President Ronald Reagan and Secretary of State George Shultz conceived the Grenada invasion while golfing at Augusta (Stuever C1).
Thus, many of the clubÆs members are the executive heads of publicly held companies that are barred by the U.S. Constitution from practicing the exclusionary membership practices of Augusta National and the political officials charged with making laws that support the Constitution. And writers have noted that many of the members, including chairman Johnson himself, have been leaders in bringing diversity to their worlds outside Augusta.
