registration, advising, extracurricular activities, job placement, orientation, financial aid, etc. The young students finding meaningful help in these areas will be more likely to stay in school and make it a productive experience. In fact, recruitment itself is the first "student service." All other services are in part designed to keep the student in school.
"Program articulation" is the movement of students' academic credits between the community college and the university, and is an important student service facilitating the furthering of the student's higher education.
These student services, taken as a whole, have increased at a rate greater than the actual instructional activities of the community college. Changing student conditions (such as the ongoing increase of older students) require future adjustment in the nature and availability of these and different student services.
