Indeed, during adolescence, Bundy suffered from extreme shyness and self-consciousness. In junior high school, he was often teased and bullied. Some might argue that Bundy was ôànot like other children, he looked and acted like them, but he was haunted by something else: a fear, a doubt û sometimes only a vague uneasinessà He felt it for years, but he didnÆt recognize it for what it was until much laterö (Michaud & Aynesworth, 1989, p. 25). Despite these difficult experiences at school, Bundy was a good student and maintained high grades during junior high, high school and college (Michaud & Aynesworth, 1983, p. 19).

It was while he was in high school that Bundy improved his social skills. He became more popular with his classmates, as he developed a more outgoing personality. Despite his newfound popularity, Bundy did not have many girlfriends. Instead, he focused more on extra-circular activities, including politics and skiing. Indeed, politics would remain a subject of great interest for Bundy throughout his life, and he would eventually find work in that career field (Larsen, 1980, p. 24).

After he graduated from high school, Bundy studied at the University of Puget Sound and the University of Washington. He had to work throughout college in order to have money for tuition. He did not hold the same job for very long, as his employers found him to be irresponsible (Michaud & Aynesworth, 1983, p. 31). But despite his poor job performance outside of school, Bundy was a very dedicated student.
