much of the existing research is not well controlled, there is a need for additional investigation into the music-concentration relationship.
The review of literature presented here clearly shows that while there is reason to believe that music improves the concentration abilities of children, more research needs to be conducted. The purpose of the proposed study is to provide some of this needed research. Specifically, the proposed study will examine for the effects of classical background music that is moderately complex and played at a moderate level on the concentration of a sample of sixth grade students.
