The budget for a stress workshop on the job will depend on how many employees will be involved in the program and how in- depth the program is. It can be as simple as a seminar on how to reduce stress in the workplace, to a 2-3 day workshop with demonstrations of stress-relieving techniques, and role playing situations. If the program is conducted on-site, and the company has a large room which can be used, then the overhead costs are reduced to zero because there will be no fees for space rental, and no staffing costs. If the program is to be run outside the company, then the size of the room, its appointments (audio/video equipment, tables/chairs, screens, blackboards, etc.) and its location will determine the rental fees (KEY, 2004). If staff are required for an off-site program location, the hiring of these people (security, catering, cleaning, etc.) will also have to be added into the overhead costs. An on-site program will require general and administrative costs in terms of refreshments provided to participants ($2-$3/person). Administrative staff will be in-house so there will be no additional salary required.
Supposing an on-site seminar program conducted in a conference room for a small company, with no overhead costs, the direct costs will be for a seminar leader for a workshop of up to 30 people, $825 for a 2-hour program, $1600 for a 4-hour program, and $3,250 for a full day, 8-hour program (KEY, 2004).
