Given that quality of care can suffer from ageism among health care providers, the remediation of this problem becomes an important need for the health care profession. One method that has been found effective in correcting attitudes of ageism has been education (Wilkinson, 1991). Therefore, the study undertaken here tested an intervention consisting of ageism education classes, designed for nurses. Class objects were to: (1) increase nurses knowledge of the physiology of aging; and
(2) increase the positivity of nurses attitudes toward older people.
