Transnationalism in Haiti

The postcolonial period was a period of economic dependency and political independence, and this forms the background for Haitian migration to the United States in particular, the country on which Haiti has been most dependent economically, and the country to which most Haitian immigrants have moved seeking political asylum or economic advantage.
