Specifically, the study investigated the prevalence of certain types of previous leadership experiences for assistant principals working at the secondary level. The extracurricular leadership experiences were then compared for athletic areas and non-athletic areas.
In addition, an effort was made to bring more definition to the study by not only examining differences in athletic and non-athletic background leadership experiences but also by examining whether these experiences were related to a number of variables associated with the assistant principal and the school where he or she administrates.
