for mothers of varying ages for the years 1990, 1991, 1992, and 1993.
As can be seen from inspection of this table, birth weights of infant have remained relatively low for the last several years regardless of differences in mothers ages. Indeed, when computed across both years and ages of mothers, the average birth weight of babies born to mothers being served by the Center was observed to be only 2.29 kg with a standard deviation of .22, and a median value of 2.4 kg. Given these low birth-weights, it can be seen that the Center was in need of a program or project designed to increase mothers' nutritional education and behavior.
Admissions data at the Health Center was examined to determine the age groups of mothers commonly served by the center. Data collected on mothers' ages at admission from 1984 to 1993 are presented in Table 2. As can be seen from inspection of the table, the largest percentage of mothers delivering at the Onikan Health Center in the last decade (54.66%) tend to be women between the ages of 20 and 29 years; this being followed by women between the ages of 30 and 30 years (29.29%).
