At the end of the two week period, other intake data and consultation with relevant hospital personnel (therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, etc.) will be used to weed out those patients which personnel have judged to be psychotic; this because the presence of psychosis could contribute to response variance.

Relevant personnel will then be used to divide patients into two groups: (1) those with no histories of childhood sexual abuse; and (2) those with histories of childhood sexual abuse that meet selection criteria (abused by one relative or stepparent for no less than one year and no more than two years).

After patient names have been divided into two numbered lists (abused and non-abused), 25 names will be randomly selected from each list. In other words, there will be 50 subjects (25 with childhood sexual abuse histories and 25 with no childhood sexual abuse histories) drawn from each clinic for a total of 100 subjects.
