n hightechnology firms which occurred during the decade of the 1980s are identified in Table 1, which may be found beginning on the following page. As the data presented in the table indicate, four of the 12 deals involved the acquisition of an American hightechnology firm by a foreign firm.

Industry concentration ratio effects in hightechnology industries resulting from those deals completed prior to 1989 are presented in Table 2, which may be found on page 5 (the concentration effects of 1989 deals were not firmly established at the time the data required for this current research were collected).
