The data required to make this determination were collected through the conduct of interviews with responsible officers in the firm and with members of the firm's accounting section.

The second objective of this project was the development and recommendation of solutions to the problems associated with the firm's accounting function. The data required to develop this recommendation were collected through a combination of library research, contacts with computer hardware and software vendors, and interviews with members of the firm's accounting section. Data were collected from officers of the Pacific Health Club and from members of the firm's accounting section through a series of interviews. Data were also collected through contacts with computer hardware and software vendors. Lastly, data were collected from published sources. Bibliographic data pertaining to these published sources are presented in the "References" section of this report.

The population of the Milwaukee metropolitan area approximates 1.6 million persons (Bureau of the Census, 1991, p. 34). The population in the metropolitan area is growing at the rate of 0.5 percent per year. Approximately twothirds of the metropolitan area population is in the 1864 age group, which is the age group in which most users of health clubs are found (Stein, 1990, pp. 4652). A significant proportion of the 18to64 year old population segment in the metropolitan area is comprised of the socalled babyboom generation. As they age, the babyboom generation is considered to be a prime target for health clubs (Waldrop, 1989, p. 6). The mean household gross annual income in the metropolitan area approximates $23,500.
