Hypothesis 1 - Students' opinions of the influence of television advertisements on their notions of health will not significantly differ depending upon whether they are college students, high school students, or Sunday School students.

Hypothesis 2 - Students' opinions of the influence of radio advertisements on their notions of health will not significantly differ depending upon whether they are college students, high school students, or Sunday School students.

Hypothesis 3 - Students' opinions of the influence of printed matter (magazine ads) advertisements on their notions of health will not significantly differ depending upon whether they are college students, high school students, or Sunday School students.

In addition to the foregoing, it seems reasonable to suggest that the form of the media may also influence health concept; this because some media are more often looked at by students than other media (e.g. students may watch television more frequently than they listen to the radio). Based on this possibility, the following additional hypothesis was formulated as a null thesis:

Hypothesis 4 - The influence of media advertisement on health concept will not significantly differ depending upon whether advertisements are television ads, radio ads, or magazine ads.

The boundaries beyond which the study does not seek to generalize may be delineated as follows:

(1) The study will be restricted to a convenience sample composed of college students, high school students, and students taken from a Sunday school class. Given that the sample will be selected on the basis of convenience instead of being randomly selected, representativeness of the sample is suspect. Therefore, the findings may only be generalizable to sample students.
