The Teddy Bear Culture

The Teddy Bear culture is widespread throughout the world. It began in America in the early 20th century, but many immigrants have spread out around the world or been taken in captivity by young humans and have started to breed colonies in just about every country. They are very charismatic, social creatures, preferring to live with humans, and are very loyal if treated with love and affection. Once one moves in with a human family, more inevitably follow, until they have established an enclave of Teddy Bears wholly contained within a human cultural group. They don't exist as a nuclear family, but rather as a clan. They have large egos, which need to be constantly fed to help them maintain their self-esteem among the other creatures in a child's care. Because of their soft body forms, there is a tendency to mistreat them by throwing them around and sitting on them or lying on them, but they rebound from this physical abuse much better than the human species. Their recovery is almost instantaneous in most cases and does not require any complex psychotherapy.

Members of the Teddy Bear culture come in variety of shapes and sizes and colors, but they are instantly recognizable as a cultural group because they all share common traits, passed down from generation to generation, with no diminution. They are all soft and cuddly, usually brown in color, but sometimes white or black, and have beady eyes. Some of the more modern members of the culture have taken to wearing cl
