Teacher Source of Stress Inventory (TSSI)

This instrument was developed by Wheeler (1995) and utilized in a study of sources of occupational stress. Of the instrument, Wheeler states:

The purpose of the TSSI is to identify and provide a magnitude measure of perceptions of conditions and situations currently negatively affecting teachers on their jobs. The TSSI does not proposed to measure the extent that the identified conditions and situations are present or would affect teachers if they were present. It is aimed at identifying current conditions of occupational stress as perceived and reported by the teachers...(p.36)

The instrument itself utilizes a five-point, Likert-type (summated) rating scale. Test takers use the scale to rate the extent to which each of the stressors listed is bothersome from them. An example of the scale and some test items is provided below.
