Representative Adams' amended version removes all references to sexual orientation. However, since the state Constitution now expressly limits marriage to heterosexual men and women, the change appears to be cosmetic. Specifically, the amended Bill has the same effect as the original. It excludes unmarried adults who are cohabiting from adopting children or becoming foster parents.
