However, one of the results of increased international trade is that jobs also seek the lowest wage rates, which are typically in developing countries for low-skill positions. Americans (and some Europeans) have witnessed low-skill jobs moving to South America and East Asia leaving behind unemployment. Higher-skill jobs remain in the United States (for example), but low-skill workers are left without a safety net.
