Over the past 25 years, there have been several surges in merger and acquisition activity. Each time such activity crests, some observers declare the process has at last run its course. Thus far, however, such conclusions have not stood the test of time. The likelihood, thus, is that merger and acquisition activity not only will continue but may well increase in the wake of the globalization of business. In it in this latter context, that the importance of the propose study will be judged.
