f this paper is to examine homelessness and its effects from a developmental perspective. Specifically, the effects and challenges of homelessness are examined within the context of three adult developmental stages: the middle years (40 to 65 years), the older, mature years (65 to 80 years) and the elderly years (over 80 years of age). To this end, the paper looks at cognitive, social, family, career, spiritual, personal and personality changes associated with each developmental change and discusses them in the context of homelessness. Mental Health issues and multicultural variables are also discussed. The general framework used for the discussion is that of the McAdams Model of Personality (McAdams, 1992).
