Sherman, Cherkin, Eisenberg, Erro, Hrbek, and Deyo (2005) studied providers of acupuncture. These authors randomly selected licensed acupuncturists in two states and interviewed them to determine training they had received. Findings were that most had three or four years of academic acupuncture training as well as postgraduate training. They treated a wide range of conditions and symptoms.
