Internet has provided the vehicle for small-to-mid-sized enterprises (SMSs) to participate in the global market place. Hence the direct link between consumers and providers can become the primary link of marketing products. Sourcing on a global level is a well facilitated through ICT. To maintain a leadership position in any developed country, a business, whether large or small, has to attain and hold positions in other markets world-wide (Drucker, 1993). Another trend is the increase in cross border acquisitions, mergers and affiliations. Managers recognise the need for organisational relationship in other geographic regions to effectively exploit the relative advantages which occur in each region (Morosini & Singh, 1994).

The proponents of globalization and the free movement of capital, goods and labor across national borders have argued that in the long run, these flows will facilitate national as well as international development, providing the financial support needed for a country to develop
