Experts have also come to recognize that rape is a repeat offense. Rapists rarely attack only once. The compulsions, rage, desires, and impulses that impel the first attack are not permanently dispelled. Instead, if he is not caught (and almost all rapists are male), the rapist will continue to seek victims.

This is especially true of pedophiles, individuals who are gratified by having sex with children. Pedophilia contains more significant elements of sexual release than do other forms of rape, but the act of seducing and assaulting a minor is still a violent domination of an unwilling subject.
