ceived but unexpressed is dead grace" (4). Much of the church's weakness, therefore, is that its members, though saved and alive to God, are dead in their communications with the rest of the world because they have allowed God's grace to die within them before it could be expressed.

Swindoll elaborates on the many facets of grace, which can be confusing because grace really is many gifts. The New Testament repeatedly exhorts the Christian and the church to continue in God's grace, but grace is really God's generosity, God's willingness to give gifts to His people. As the famous acronym puts it, grace is God's Riches At Christ's Expense. Salvation from sin and a new spiritual nature are the first gifts one receives; too often they are the only gifts one receives because one doesn't know there is more, or the more is limited by rules imposed by other people. The fact is, one cannot walk with Christ without grace, moment by moment.
