As with the split of the atom, just the awesome power of the knowledge that it can be split and what destructive damage occurs upon that split, leading to the implementation around the world of protocols for its use and punishment for its misuse and the awareness of its power and damage, so, too, should we be aware of the dangers that could be aroused by awakening the possibility of longevity and eternal life.

According to the Human Cloning Foundation (2001), there are several beneficial considerations or pros to human cloning among which are:

Longevity or use of cloning to preserve and prolong life.

Use of cell cloning for injection of healthy cells into ill cells. This would be beneficial to diseases such as heart disease, cancer and AIDS.

Use of Embryonic stem cells grown to produce organs or tissues to repair or replace damaged ones.á This would eliminate the need for rejection drugs in transplant situations and the need for a waiting list to in order to receive a compatible organ donation.

Human cloning could make it possible for many more infertile couples to have children than ever before possible. This also opens the possibilities that Gay couples could effectively have a genetically connected child.

Disorder Avoidance. Through use of cloning, genetic disorders such as DownÆs syndrome and Tay-Sachs disease can be averted.
