How to Survive a Shipwreck
This is an excerpt from the paper...
Having just survived a shipwreck and being lost at sea alone, I would need to take stock of my situation and prioritize my needs as well as potential dangers. The first priority would be, as in any new situation, to remain calm. This might just be the most challenging part of the situation, at least initially. I would imagine that it would take me some time to calm myself and gather the emotional fortitude to move on to the next steps. The best ways to calm oneself are to 1. assess the reality -- rather than the imagined exaggerated reality -- of the situation, 2. face one's fears, and 3. realize that there is always hope. Once I had calmed down, I could begin the next steps of evaluating my situation and prioritizing my needs and challenges.
