Added to these pressured within Germany were the international economic depression and the rise of the Communist movement in Europe. Lawrence Lafore, noted historian, noted that the Russian Revolution had several effects. First, it separated Russia from Europe and drastically changed the political and economic geography of Europe (Lafore 1970, 7). Second, the emergency of the Communist Part in Germany, which coincided with the rise of National Socialism as yet another revolutionary political movement, created among the German people a legitimate fear that the Russian Revolution might be exported to Germany itself (Bullock 1992, 308-312).
