Repositioning schedules should also include small movements like leg straightening or addition or removal of pillows during daily skin inspections. Massage or use of pressure relieving aids like water-filled gloves or donuts should not be used in treating or preventing pressure ulcers. This writer believes such pressure relieving interventions can worsen condition of pressure ulcers. Correct seating positions and pressure relief when sitting are also vital to preventing ulcers. When patient condition warrants such care, ôàdevitalized or necrotic tissue should be debridedö (Lewis et al. 2003, p. 98).
