Vroom (2000) argues that group leader decision-making style leads to ôgoal congruence and reduced conflictö (230). My authoritarian leadership approach initially helped foment team conflict. Such conflicts were resolved by my strategy of having all group members participate in any decisions that had to be made. By making my leadership more participative in nature, the input of all four team members was solicited and used to make any final decisions. I discovered that arriving at decisions in this manner encouraged more member participation than when I left decisions up to myself or individual team members.
