The following represent applications where radiosity methodology is better equipped to handle the task of rendering than that which would be experienced using ray tracing.
Lighting design. Radiosity generates images that are much closer to what one would experience in reality than that associated with ray tracing. This can be very useful for assisting the user in making determinations with respect to the placement of lights in a room.
Simulations. For those applications which require a walkthrough, the scenes are pre-calculated and the camera is able to move around within the confines of the scene with very little need for additional computation. For those applications which require remote viewing of homes, buildings, or other edifices, this feature is highly advantageous.
