e afraid to interact with them, and had difficulty in school with male teachers. St. LukeÆs counselors began specifically addressing this problem in counseling since it affected so many of the girls, and the result was that most of the girls were able to interact less timidly with men. Those with male teachers were far less fearful than before. Many of the girls are beginning to understand that there is diversity in men, and they do not all behave the same way or have the same values.

Miss Marsden does feel that the issue of violence is still a problem. Although the home has not had any murders or suicides, as similar homes have had, there are still occasional outbreaks of violence.
