In its tasks, it gears everything it does to the customers that come in or drive through; the response to every customer order or request is prompt and paced to the volume and speed with which customers arrive. The chain of employees operates like a well-oiled machine designed to serve the customer. On a grander scale, though, the restaurant is impacted more by societal environmental factors. McDonaldÆs adapts to the hottest trends in consumer preference. The fact that Americans are interested in eating more healthful food has caused McDonaldÆs to add new selections to its menu that are lower in fat or calories and contain fresh fruit or vegetables. When new child-friendly movies come out, McDonaldÆs forms an alliance allowing it to manufacture movie-related toys and include them in kidsÆ meals. Public-sector organizations are less driven by profits and more driven by funding than private-sector organizations. For the private sector business, producing a quality product that is competitive in its market and making a good profit are the two key concerns.
