Researching Concept of Emotional Intelligence
This is an excerpt from the paper...
I propose to research the concept of emotional intelligence (EI) and the positive social characteristics associated with it. This research will be qualitative, as it involves research into the nature of EI and not an assessment of its distribution throughout the population. It will probe the various aspects of emotional intelligence to determine the influence of emotional intelligence on the personality and social adaptation of an individual, as well as practical applications in understanding how emotional intelligence functions in the human psyche and how it can be managed. This methodology fits well with my research problemùdefining the nature of EIùand my research goalsùassessing how EI correlates with social skills and loneliness, gaining a firmer understanding of perception and personality as they relate to emotions, gaining insight into how to better control emotions, and learning how emotional control can be improved through self-awareness, self-management skills, relationship management skills, and social awareness. In order to complete the assignment, I will need to retrieve and compile information related to the topic: definitions of EI and loneliness; statistics on subjectsÆ scores on the BarOn Emotional Quotient Short Form; subject overviews and research articles on EI, self-awareness, loneliness, self-management skills, relationship management skills, and social awareness; current topics in EI, such as emotional intelligence testin

This type of training can prevent children with potential emotional difficulties from allowing those difficulties to escalate into major problems, such as violence and depression; it can also lead EI-trained children to eventually develop solutions to the worldÆs EI-related problemsùterrorism, marital discord, and child abuse, for example. Furthermore, EI-trained children are more likely to live contented lives, more apt to retain learned information, and more likely to be cooperative and motivated on the job as adults (ôEmotional Intelligenceö).
Project Assignment Lesson 9
This project will be based on the qualitative design of research, using the grounded theory approach to data collection. This method is predicated on three basic elements: concepts, categories, propositions (Pandit). Concepts are ôthe basic units of analysis,ö since theory is developed on data conceptualization (Pandit). Categories are a higher-level, more abstract idea than concepts; concepts can be grouped to form categories (Pandit). Propositionsùformerly known as hypothesesùare ôgeneralized relationships between a category and its concepts and between discrete categoriesö (Pandit). The use of these three elements to for
